25 April is Australia and New Zealand's commemorative day for those who have served in war, known as Anzac Day. Along with the parades and ceremonies, the day gives Kiwis and Australians a chance to reflect and acknowledge the commitment and sacrifice of those who went to war.
I was having a browse online and found these great images of women and children locally supporting the war effort in the 1940s. Both are part of the Sir George Grey Special Collections at Auckland Libraries.
And then I found these amazing photos from the Australian War Memorial Collection's Flickr stream.
Lots of sewing, making do and mending by nurses, soldiers, and women at home.
